Jellyfish has been acquired by Microsoft

Everything is finally public — Microsoft has purchased Jellyfish.com, the site I’ve spent most of the last eighteen months building as a member of one of the most amazing teams I’ve had the pleasure of working with.

Straight from the source:

Jellyfish has done some really innovative work in comparative shopping engines. We think the technology has some interesting potential applications as we continue to invest heavily in shopping and commerce as a key component of Live Search. Stay tuned for more great stuff from our new colleagues in Madison!

This is the start of a whole new chapter for us here at Jellyfish, and we’re looking forward to the new challenges. If you’d like to read more, I’ve got a whole list of mentions ready for you. If you prefer, there’s always this search feed.

I think my favorite part so far is that I no longer have to respond with “just fine thanks, and how are things going where you work?” when asked about my job.

Turns out hard work pays off after all.

Congrats man! These past 10 months working with you and the rest of the team have been the best time of my professional life, here’s to hoping it’s only going to get better from here!

Wow, congrats! My jaw dropped when I read the news. It must feel good to let the cat out of the bag, eh?

Your hard work has certainly paid off! Congrats to all of you! It’s been fun reading all the blog reactions to the news, all which appear to be very supportive and enthusiastic. I got a kick out of the student who had written a paper about “jellyfish” and was about to hand it in when the news came in. The student seemed happy to add a little more on to the paper before handing it in! Congratulations, again, Nick! :)

Congratulations on the sale Nick. I am proudly wearing my Jellyfish softball jersey at work today… coworkers keep asking me if I got stock in the company for playing for the team and I have to sadly report “no, I wish.” Sigh.

Best of luck to the Jellyfish team.
